CURRICULUM / Early Learning Centre
The start of the Maranatha Journey
At Maranatha Early Learning Centre, we believe in strong foundations.
Our centre offers our youngest members of the community a biblically faithful kindergarten experience that aims to instill a sense of joy, wonder and enthusiasm in learning. Programs are facilitated through rich play-based experiences as well as adult-guided units of inquiry which invite and inspire curiosity, investigation, creativity, imagination and a love of learning. It is the beginning of a very exciting and rewarding Maranatha journey.
The Early Learning Centre Program
Integral to our Early Learning Centre curriculum are the National Curriculum (Belonging, Being and Becoming) and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework.
Early Years Learning Framework identifies five core outcomes for children which underpin our educationally inspiring Early Learning programs.
-
Indentity – Children have a strong sense of identity.
-
Community – Children are connected with and contribute to their world.
-
Wellbeing – Children have a strong sense of Wellbeing.
-
Learning – Children are confident and involved learners.
-
Communication – Children are effective communicators.
At Maranatha, our play-based curriculum incorporates engaging educational experiences and teaching strategies to promote individual creativity, social skills, emotional well-being, and higher-order thinking skills. Our immersive curriculum features a variety of play-based activities such as Language and Literacy, Numeracy, Science, Social Thinking, Inclusion and Diversity, Child Safety, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultural Perspectives. Our goal is to create a welcoming environment where every child feels a sense of belonging and is able to thrive in their development.
Engaging Environment
Our purpose-built facilities offer our students a safe, secure and loving environment that reflects God’s love and the beauty of His creation. Our indoor and outdoor spaces are a reflection of the care and dedication of our teaching team. The environment is an important part of the learning experience. We provide interesting and stimulating experiences that cater to the individual, small and whole group.
Specialist Learning Program
In conjunction with a strong emphasis on numeracy, literacy and language development, the Early Learning curriculum is enhanced by a Specialist Learning program. Each week, the children in our 4/5-year-old programs attend complementary specialist classes, utilising the Junior and Senior School facilities. These include Library, Music, Physical Education as well as visits to our Discovery Garden.
Exceeding National Quality Standards
At our Early Learning Centres, we prioritise critical reflection as a key factor in guiding our best practices. This philosophy is embedded into every aspect of our education programs and activities. Since our inception in 2013, both our Doveton and Officer ELC’s have exceeded the National Quality Standards in all seven quality areas, as set by the Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority.
Educating with Expert Teachers
Our highly experienced, warm and responsive educators have a passion for the success of the students in their care and a deep respect for children’s individual differences. Educators recognise that their own learning is a continuous and reciprocal process – they learn from each other and from the children and their families.
