Canberra Compass Conference

Senior Student Leaders Grow in Faith and Leadership at Canberra Conference

Several Senior School Senators recently travelled to Canberra to attend a three‑day national student leadership conference, joining more than 200 student leaders from Christian schools across Australia.

Throughout the conference, students explored what it means to lead well from a Christian perspective. Key sessions focused on leadership shaped by faith, the power of story in forming identity, and the overarching story of the Bible. Students were encouraged to reflect on how culture shapes values and behaviour and why it is vital for Christian leaders to be intentionally shaped by Jesus. Teaching also explored the Trinity our identity as people made in God’s image for love and relationship, as well as themes of sin, brokenness and lament, providing space for honest reflection and spiritual growth.
Alongside the conference program, students participated in a number of excursions, including visits to the Australian War Memorial and Parliament House. These experiences deepened their understanding of service, sacrifice and civic responsibility, while a shared bush dance provided an opportunity for connection, celebration and community building.

This experience was a brilliant opportunity for our student leaders to grow in confidence, deepen their faith and be challenged to lead with humility, wisdom and purpose as they serve our school community.
