On Tuesday 4th March, our Year 9 students took part in the powerful Rite Journey Departure and Calling Ceremonies, marking the first step of their participation in this unique educational program. Designed to support the development of self-aware, vital, responsible and resilient adults, The Rite Journey offers a transformative experience for young people as they begin to embrace adulthood.
The Departure Ceremony serves as a meaningful time to acknowledge the significance of childhood and the vital bond between parents and their children. It provides an opportunity for parents to bless and release their child, entrusting them to continue their journey into adulthood. This heartfelt ritual recognizes the transition from the protective sphere of childhood to the exciting, yet challenging, road ahead.
The Calling Ceremony follows, where students themselves resolve to move forward and let go of ‘childish things.’ They take time to reflect on their past experiences and consider the events that have shaped who they are today. With the guidance of their mentors and peers, the students make a commitment to grow, embrace challenges, and accept the calling that God has placed before them as they step into the next chapter of their lives.
Both ceremonies were deeply moving, providing our Year 9s with an opportunity to reflect on their past, acknowledge their potential, and embrace the journey ahead. We look forward to supporting them as they continue to grow and mature throughout The Rite Journey program.
