Book Week

Last week, our Junior School students celebrated CBCA Book Week 2026 with a wonderful week of reading, creativity and imagination centred around this year’s theme,”Symphony of Stories.” Students across both the Endeavour Hills and Officer campuses immersed themselves in the joy of storytelling through a range of exciting activities designed to inspire a lifelong love of books.

Our libraries became hubs of activity as students explored new titles at the annual Book Fair, participated in reading challenges and enjoyed special library sessions featuring shortlisted CBCA books. From recess reading opportunities to fun competitions, Book Week provided opportunities for students to discover new stories and authors.

A highlight of the week was the LittleScribe Author Masterclass, where classes joined interactive sessions led by some of Australia’s leading authors and illustrators. Students gained valuable insights into the writing process, explored creative storytelling techniques and were encouraged to develop their own ideas and voices as young writers.

Book Week culminated in our Book Day celebrations, with students and staff dressing as their favourite book characters and participating in parades at both campuses. The day was filled with excitement as students enjoyed special author visits, literary-themed activities and a live performance of Dear Broccoli by Meerkat Productions. These experiences brought stories to life and demonstrated the power of books to entertain, educate and inspire.

Students also enjoyed presentations from guest authors Bree Rayment and Angela Jones, who shared insights into their writing journeys and encouraged students to embrace their creativity and imagination.

At Maranatha, we believe reading opens doors to learning, empathy, creativity and faith. Book Week provided a wonderful opportunity for students to celebrate the stories that shape our thinking, spark our imagination and deepen our understanding of the world around us.
