National Simultaneous Storytime at Maranatha Christian School

Today, our Junior School students joined children across Australia to celebrate National Simultaneous Storytime 2026, one of the country’s largest literacy events promoting a love of reading and storytelling.

Students gathered to enjoy this year’s featured book, Luna Roo: The Kangaroo Baller by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd and illustrated by Jake A. Minton. This engaging Australian picture book explores themes of courage, teamwork and perseverance, capturing the imagination of young readers.

National Simultaneous Storytime brings together schools, libraries and families across the nation to read the same story at the same time, creating a shared experience that celebrates literacy, connection and community.

It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to come together, develop their love of reading and enjoy the joy and wonder of storytelling as part of a nationwide celebration.
